Beautiful Beach             (updated 7-18)

Learn to paint Impressionistic bright cheerful paintings. This beach has bold brush strokes. The tendency is to smooth out the strokes and over paint. Learning when to stop is an art. The impressionists started the movement, when it was not popular. Why did it sweep the art world? Using the correct paint and paint colors does make a difference. How not to get in trouble halfway through a painting and give up.

Paint supplies for this class – Liquitex heavy body hooker green #225 not #224 , alizarim crimson , white, yellow, Indian yellow, Naples yellow, portrait pint, light blue violet, phthalo blue- green shade, transparent raw sienna , red

Base coat– Daler Rowney cadmium orange or the red vellium either will due.

Brushes– You will need 3 brushes. 1″ wash brush. A firm flat acrylic brush that comes to a chiseled edge is important to have when painting water. and the  tiny  fan brush (not medium) is good to have. I will post a picture. A small angled brush is good as well but it will not replace the flat brush.

DK Art Supply in Leesburg has the brushes. You only need a few good brushes, not a package of brushes. They will show you these that come to a chiseled edge.

Other supplies– a canvas (16 x20 recommended size) , sea sponge, round potter sponge, rectangular plastic table cloth from the dollar store,Materson travel acrylic palette, water bucket, easel is optional (not necessary)

DK Art Supply in Leesburg has most of your paint and brush supplies. They are also aware of each class. When you buy the paints for this class you will be well prepared for future classes. I will also explain brushes in the absolute beginner classes coming up this fall.Stay tuned.
