Moving Water – The Enrichment Academy
Source Art– “Tropical light colors”
Check supply updates as we get close to the day of class as I will continue to update this page. updated 2-2-2018
Class Objective- how to achieve tropical warm water by blending color on the canvas. Combination of different technique. You will be mixing paint colors so please have non absorbent paper plates for this class. You do not need the masterson palette today.
We will throw away everything you have been taught about acrylic painting and approach it from an entirely different perspective. The paint colors will be few but important.
Paint Colors – Liquitex heavy body paints – white, ultramarine (or light blue violet), phthalo blue green shade, light yellow , phthalo green yellow shade . Please have all 5 of these paints.
Special Supplies – simply simmons script brush* is an absolute must, sea sponge , a wide brush, a medium brush ( 1″ wash brush) . The wide brush is to mix paint and coat the canvas so it should not be thick at the end. See picture. Either brush will do. No wider than 2″. I will enclose a picture. Acrylic glazing medium or Mat medium( you need very little medium and can use any kind. A very very small bottle is all you need. Not a big bottle.) An angled palette knife will help you mix color if you have one. Do not spend money on one if you don’t have one. A brush will do.
Please note that you can not do this class without the script brush or the paint colors – DK Art supply has this brush.
See the main page for basic supplies that artists use such as plastic tablecloths, paints, a canvas, easel, (you will be painting flat most of the time),bucket for water, brushes. Call is you have questions 828-230-6613.
