Splash and Bounce        (updated 5-4-2018)

Here is an abstract class that has a fun element of expressive freedom that won’t leave you wanting. Finish a painting that you can take home and hang on your wall. There are elements of this painting that will surprise the experienced painter or the new artist.  Be amazed at what you can accomplish by learning to throw paint and find what structure exists in the successful abstract.

Paint supplies – Liqutex heavy body paint – hooker green #225 not 224, alizarin crimson,Pthalo green blue shade,  light blue violet, yellow, red, white, brilliant violet, transparent raw sienna, Indian yellow  ( you can bring different colors if you choose)

Special supplies -You will need a large 2 in brush to apply the back round with  and blend the colors.  This can be and inexpensive chip brush at Lowes or DK Art Supply, about $2.  The Princeton smooth red handled brush is the one I use to  smooth  the background before applying the second and third layers. I use the liner or otherwise know as script brush for the smooth sweeping strokes.

Other  points on Brushes- Thoughts on brushes The  1″ wash brush is good for most paintings.   A firm flat acrylic brush that comes to a chiseled edge and the tiny fan brush (not medium) is good to have. I will post a picture. A small angled brush is good as well, but it will not replace the flat brush. You only need a few good brushes, not a package of brushes. Packages are a waste of time and money. If you have a splatter brush bring it. You can borrow mine if you do not have one of your own.  No Stress. See photo below.

The usual basics are needed  paper towels, canvas, table cloth, Masterson palette, water bucket, etc are needed. Easel is not needed as we paint flat most of the time.
