Adopt A Painting – New Idea for Successful Silent Auctions
Recently, I donated two watercolor paintings to a worthy auction, LifeStream – the 25th Annual Fundraiser “Gala of Hope”, Oct 16, 2015 in Mount Dora. I am proud to say the two piece were adopted and now live at Langely Medical in Ocala, Florida. The purpose of this blog is to share with you a unique idea that I had to change up the standard style of giving. Of course my motive is always a desire for success.
This is how a standard silent auction works. Items are lined up with a sheet of paper in front of them. A price is assigned to the item or a value. During a period of time while guests have hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, they have the opportunity to bid on the items. The highest bidder wins when the time is up.
The twist that I suggested was not to assign a beginning price. Tell the story about the creator of the piece and ask the guest to adopt the painting.
This way the beloved paintings truly end up in a happy home. This method was a success. Keep reading these blogs for more ideas and don’t forget to click on our newsletter as we will be giving simple regular art tips once that gets going.
Hope this helps you in you next fundraiser. See form example below :
