A Seascape Painting in Acrylic – The Villages Enrichment Academy

After you have taken one or more of Arrachme’s focused partial seascape painting classes, or you have a grasp of acrylic painting, you are ready for this in-depth seascape painting class. The class/workshop will move quickly in three separate days over 3 weeks. Class 1 – composition and materials, Class 2- structure, Class 3 – detail. You will be able to paint a long, no matter where you sit in class because you can view the instructor and screens. You are welcome to bring your own seascape project from home or if you want to just apply the methods that are taught. This will be a three-part class that will challenge you. Bring a canvas with a thin layer of orange as your ground.
This class is in 3 parts Jan 18, 25, and Feb 1
Paint- (phthalo blue-green shade or Veridian), burnt umber (or a dark brown), Naples yellow, cadmium yellow, white, black, alizarin crimson, diazinon purple, ultramarine blue, teal is optional.
Mediums- (Some type of mat medium, anyone brand will due), and a pencil
Brushes and tools- I use 4 brushes and a pencil. 1″ wash brush, a firm flat acrylic brush that comes to a chiseled edge, a tiny fan brush, liner brush
It is recommended that you get the 20 x 16 large Masterson palette(red or blue cover), and at least one preferably 2 favorite palette knives as we will be mixing color in this class.
Basecoat- Daler Rowney cadmium orange
