Deep Water Painting – The Villages Enrichment Academy

Class #: ART5025
Location: Lake Miona Center - Buena Vista
12/10/2024 & 12/10/2024

12:30pm - 4:00m break for snack

Create a serene seascape exuding tranquility, capturing the essence of deep waters gently swaying. Delight in memories reminiscent of leisurely voyages aboard a cruise ship.

Embrace creativity by introducing an element of intrigue—a fleeting shadow hinting at an overhead plane or the soft glow of the sun piercing through billowy clouds. That will give you the illusion of a shadow on the water.  This class takes time, The more layers that you add to your painting the more interesting it will be.

Supplies:

Prepare your artistic sanctuary with the essentials:

  • Table Setup: Create your personal studio space with the basics. (practice paper)
  • Canvas: Select your preferred canvas size to capture the essence of your underwater masterpiece. I used a square canvas 20″ x 20″
  • Paper Towels: Essential for dabbing and blending, ensuring your colors harmonize effortlessly.
  • Palette Paper: Provide the perfect surface for mixing your palette of aquatic shades.
  • Easel: Elevate your painting experience with the support of a sturdy easel.
  • Paint: Here are the colors that I used.  Liquitex professional tubes(not Basics student paint) – phthalo blue-green shade, dark hooker green, alizarin crimson
  • Amsterdam – white, light yellow, dioxazine purple
  • Paint brushes: This is important. You will need a firm real acrylic flat chiseled edge brush, 1″ soft flat  wash brush.  (I will also use my 1″ angled Princeton brush)
