The Art Lady-As Seen in Villager Magazine-by Arrachme
For years people have asked me, “How do I know what I am looking at when it comes to art.” Here is a fun, quick tip that will instantly turn you into an expert.
Choose any painting. Your eyes will organically go to the intended or unintended focal point or points. They will either soothe your soul or cause a strong reaction. Those focal points, in most cases, will guide you around the painting as the artist intended. Great! So how do I find them?
Hear is one revel into the secrets of fine art. Look at a painting. In your mind, draw a tick-tac toe image over the painting. Now you have six squares. Don’t look inside the squares but at the locations of the intersections where the lines meet. Regardless of whether the painting is realistic or abstract, you will have one or two most important messages of the painting at one or two of the intersections.
See photo. This painting “Phoenix” is 48 x 48. Size does not affect the outcome. Do you see the first and second focal points? The first one is created with an image and the second one uses a deeper set of blue values to gently move you around the canvas in a circular motion.
You are now ready to collect the fine art that will make a difference In your life.
